Saved

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. – Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT

To me, this is a portion of Scripture that I like to keep close to my heart. A reminder of where my salvation b comes from. A reminder that it will never be about my good works. I long to serve the Living God and to walk in His ways for He is all powerful,  all knowing and more loving then I could ever imagine.

Let all praise and glory be to Jesus.

God speaks

Often times I will hear people say that God does not answer them when they need Him to. That is not how our loving Father works. I find that He can be quieter than I would like at times, but that is usually because I am being too loud at the time and can’t hear Him over my own thoughts. if you stay still and silent before Him, He will speak.

Over the last few weeks I have been praying about and planning a change. I have been uncertain if it was a good move logically, but my heart has been guided towards this for some time. After a series of events that seemed to really point in the direction I have been contemplating, I decided to make some small steps. As I sat in my office, wondering if I should really make this next move, several birds few so close to the window that I thought they were going to fly into it. As I allowed my attention to drift towards the large number of birds on the ground and in the trees, a Bible verse came to mind and I knew that God was telling me to be at ease.

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? – Matthew 6:26 NLT

Has my Lord not shown me over and over again that He will provide for me and for my family? Has He not worked miracles in a budget that should not have worked in theory? Has He not guided my path to places of healing and growth? Every single time I have stopped putting faith in my own abilities and have handed it over to God, He has come through. Why would this be any different?

God is faithful. Jesus loves me more than I could even begin to understand. I can rest in the fact that no matter how I may doubt my abilities and my own worth, God will provide a way for me and had great plans for this life. So long as He is at the center, nothing can touch me. I can’t go wrong when He is leading the way. Holy Spirit, fill me up and cleans me from the worries of this world!

Today I was reminded to push past the self-doubts that can be suffocating at times. He whispered to me in a moment of stillness. I know that I am moving in the right direction. I have learned to move slowly, purposely and to not allow myself to move ahead of His plans.

Once, not all that long ago, I would have heard a piece of His plan and I would have ran as fast as I could have with it. Lately, I have been able to step back, wait on Him to guide my steps, step out in faith and see where He leads me. It has been a beautiful process and I never want to forget this. Wait on the Lord and be sure to respond when the Spirit tells me to. I need to stop listening to the lies that try to keep me from moving in any direction. It can be paralyzing. I must step boldly in the direction my God has shown me.

Learning to speak less, listen more and to be still more often has been challenging. With such small progress, I feel such powerful responses from the Holy Spirit. I wonder how much more He could accomplish in this life if I could just learn to give Him more room to work!

Today I pray that we all take time to stop and listen. Be still before Jesus and ask Him to free you from the lies that keep you from stepping out in faith. Ask Him to show you what plans He has for you. Let Him guide your steps. Let Him be a beacon in the wilderness. Do not allow us to lean on our own understanding!

In the precious name of Jesus I pray these things. Amen.

Your Vision

Lord, I pray that You open my eyes so that I may truly see. I know that my vision is blurred by my own selfishness and self-centeredness. I try so hard to broaden my perspective, but I am still only seeing from a human perspective. Show my how You see me. Show me how You see the world, even if only a glimmer.

I try to imagine how You look upon this world with great sadness. This beautiful creation being destroyed by those you long to have a relationship with. Your people turning away from You and causing such pain while claiming that it is in Your name. I wonder how You can look upon such defiance and darkness in this world and love us all anyway.

I want to walk this land with Your eyes and Your heart. I pray that You break my stone heart and replace it with a heart of flesh. I pray that You lift the veil that blinds me to the eternal and let me see You in all things.

You are the only thing in me that is good.

I am sorry for the error of my ways. I am sorry for my moments of weakness and deceit. I truly am and I know that You can see that in my heart. I know You hear my cries, both spoken and silent.

Thank You for not giving up on us. I know that we have deserved it for centuries. Thank You for allowing me to walk upon this earth with my free will to choose You. Thank You for the people You have given to walk by my side in all this. I thank You for entrusting me with all that You have, despite my ignorance at times.

You are good and I will never forget that. You are mighty and I will never say otherwise. You are the way, the truth and the light. I will always walk in You my Lord.

Clear my vision, soften my heart, cleanse my thoughts and feed my soul. Let me see You always and in all things. Show me Your plan for this life You have so graciously given. Guide my steps and hold me close to You.

I alone can accomplish nothing, but all things are possible through You. You are my strength and my refuge. Thank You Jesus.

Proverbs Study Day 12

Good morning everyone. My apologies for the delay in posting day 12! Better late than never? 🙂 Enjoy!

Proverbs 12

To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness. Wickedness never brings stability, but the godly have deep roots. A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones. The plans of the godly are just; the advice of the wicked is treacherous. The words of the wicked are like a murderous ambush, but the words of the godly save lives. The wicked die and disappear, but the family of the godly stands firm. A sensible person wins admiration, but a warped mind is despised. Better to be an ordinary person with a servant than to be self-important but have no food. The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel. A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies has no sense. Thieves are jealous of each other’s loot, but the godly are well rooted and bear their own fruit. The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape such trouble. Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards. Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted. An honest witness tells the truth; a false witness tells lies. Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed. Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace! No harm comes to the godly, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth. The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness. Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave. Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray. Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find. The way of the godly leads to life; that path does not lead to death.

What have I taken away from this chapter today:

The first thing that struck me in this passage is that a wife can have such influence on her husband. This is not to say that I have control over my husband by any means, but it does remind me that the way I approach my marriage has a huge impact on my husband. I know this first hand. As I’ve changed my attitude and approach to my marriage, my husband has surprised me. As I’ve obeyed God’s commandments and given Him the room to work, the more growth we’ve experienced.

Secondly I am touched by not being lazy and choosing to work hard despite what others around me are choosing to do. I stay focused on God and keeping Him in all things I do. The rewards will come. Be true and always be truthful in my words. Deceit and lies bring death, this too I have experienced first hand and never want to be in that place again.

My prayer for today:

Lord, today I thank you for all the work You have done in my life. I pray that You continue to do so and that I never feel satisfied. I pray that You dig deeper amd deeper into my life. You bestowed this life upon me and I want to do the work You desire for me to do. I pray for this world to see you and for marriages to be restored. I pray that Your Kingdom come and Your will to be done in all things. In the precious name of Jesus I pray these things.

Proverbs Study Day 10

Welcome to day 10 of Proverbs. I am excited to hear what God has to tell us today!

Proverbs 10
The Proverbs of Solomon
The proverbs of Solomon: A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life. The lord will not let the godly go hungry, but he refuses to satisfy the craving of the wicked. Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich. A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace. The godly are showered with blessings; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away. The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.
People who wink at wrong cause trouble, but a bold reproof promotes peace. The words of the godly are a life-giving mountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses. Wise words come from the lips of people with understanding, but those lacking sense will be beaten with a rod.
Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster. The wealth of the rich is their fortress; the poverty of the poor is their destruction. The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin. People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool. Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense. The blessing of the lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
Doing wrong is fun for a fool, but living wisely brings pleasure to the sensible. The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled; the hopes of the godly will be granted. When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation. Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes. Fear of the lord lengthens one’s life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. The way of the lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. The godly will never be disturbed, but the wicked will be removed from the land. The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice, but the tongue that deceives will be cut off. The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.

What have I taken away from this chapter today:
What strikes me the most today is that this chapter repeats the idea that the mouth of a godly person gives wise advice and wise words. Now, calling myself a godly woman has always been difficult, as I feel completely unqualified and that I fall way short. However, I can say that as I go throughout my day and when I sit here to write, I am relying on God to work through me. As I write, speak and listen, I am always hoping that there is an opportunity to bring something useful to another person. I desire to see God working in this life and just know that He will use me if I allow Him to.
I have always enjoyed writing and have always been insecure in it. When starting this blog, I struggled with publishing it and sharing. God was telling me that it was needed. My heart was telling me that we all need to share more with each other and that we are not alone in our struggles.
I look to bring joy to Jesus and to His children He brings along my path. Even if the words I publish bring a small comfort to just one person, I am happy. I don’t need to know that an impact is made. I only need to know where my heart is when I am writing and to have faith that it goes where it is needed.
I feel that I am showered with blessing each and every day. I am so imperfect and often cannot bear myself when I am in a bad place. We are all human and no one can be expected to reach the standard that Jesus met. I am glad to be instructed by my Lord and am glad to share those experiences with you all. I hope and pray that His word reaches your heart today.
My prayer for today:
Lord, hear my cry for You. My heart thirsts for You. Use me Lord, shine through me and work in my life. I pray that the people You bring to me are impacted by Your power and the transformations they see taking place. I thank You for Your Word and Your unending and underserved Grace. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, I pray these things.

Proverbs Study Day 9

Thank you all for coming along this journey with me and hearing how God’s word is working in my life. I truly hope that you too are being impacted with this study.

Proverbs 9
Wisdom has built her house; she has carved its seven columns. She has prepared a great banquet, mixed the wines, and set the table. She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come. She calls out from the heights overlooking the city. “Come in with me,” she urges the simple. To those who lack good judgment, she says, “Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live; learn to use good judgment.” Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you.
But correct the wise, and they will love you. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more. Fear of the lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.
Folly Calls for a Hearing
The woman named Folly is brash. She is ignorant and doesn’t know it. She sits in her doorway on the heights overlooking the city. She calls out to men going by who are minding their own business. “Come in with me,” she urges the simple. To those who lack good judgment, she says, “Stolen water is refreshing; food eaten in secret tastes the best!” But little do they know that the dead are there. Her guests are in the depths of the grave.

What have I taken away from this chapter today:
Again God reminds us that fearing Him is a good thing. A healthy fear of the Lord leads to a life full of peace and joy. When we fear the Lord and accept His invitation to have a personal relationship with Him, we begin to see just how empty our lives were before Him. Prior to accepting Christ into my life, I knew that I was missing something but had no idea just how empty my life was. Even today, as my relationship deepens, I am blown away with the fruits being produced. God is so good and once you truly taste the salvation offered, you will never want to go back to that place of emptiness and selfishness. Success and true Godly fulfillment are not the same.
When I reflect upon my life before Jesus, I can see how many times He was right there calling out to me. I refused to accept His invitation to the feast of life He offers to us all. I allowed misconceptions and human errors to keep me from digging deeper. I actually hated Christianity for the better part of my life. I laugh when I think of all the reasons and the uneducated statements I would make on a regular basis.
Part of me wishes I listened to God’s call earlier and part of me is thankful that I can truly understand where people are coming from when they are rejecting Jesus and attacking me as a believer. I get it and I can share with them from that place.
My prayer for today:
Jesus, You are truly amazing. I thank You for never giving up and for Your unconditional love. Thank You for walking with me, even when I was Your true enemy. I ask that You continue to work in this life You have given to me and to use me as You see fit. Let me be a light in the darkness that surrounds us all. Let all who read this be changed and look to You for more. In the precious name of Jesus I pray these things. Amen.

Proverbs Study day 7

Good morning! I took a day off and spent the day on the water with my hubby for his birthday! Yesterday i felt that I had to share a lesson learned and hope you all enjoyed. now, back to studying Proverbs!

Proverbs 7

Another Warning about Immoral Women

Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family. Let them protect you from an affair with an immoral woman, from listening to flattery of a promiscuous woman. While I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain, I saw some naive young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense. He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman, strolling down the path of her house. It was at twilight, in the evening, as deep darkness fell. The woman approached him, seductively dressed and sly of heart. She was the brash, rebellious type, never content to stay at home. She is often in the streets and markets, soliciting at every corner. She threw her arms around him and kissed him, and with a brazen look she said, :I’ve just made my peace offering and fulfilled my vows. You’re the one I was looking for! I came out to find you, and here you are! My bed is spread with beautiful blankets, with colorful sheets of Egyptian linen. I’ve perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let’s drink our fill of love until morning. Let’s enjoy each other’s caresses. for my husband is not home. He’s away on a long trip. He has taken a wallet full of money with him and won’t return until later this month.” So she seduced him with her pretty speech and enticed him with her flattery. He followed her at once. like an ox going to the slaughter. He was like a stag caught in a trap, awaiting the arrow that would pierce it’s heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life. So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words. Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path. for she has been ruined of many; many men have been her victims. Her house is the road to the grave. Her bedroom is the den of death,

What have I taken away from this chapter today:

As I was typing this chapter I was thinking about how pronounced prostitution and sexual immorality is in our world. Many people are caught up in this type of death. Many fall into this sin and have no clue that they are corrupting their very souls. This saddens me.

As I do not have much life application here in regards to being married and being a temptress as described in this chapter, I don’t know where to directly apply this portion of scripture. I do know that this is an ever reminder that marriage vows are sacred and should never be broken.

My prayer for today:

Lord, I ask that You look into each and every one of our hearts today. Search our hearts and souls this very moment and shine Your light deep within. I pray for those who struggle in this area and come before You on their behalf, Lord. I pray that they see the death and destruction that takes place when they choose this lifestyle and that they see You in this and turn away. Let them turn to You Lord and realize that You are true love and offer the only way to salvation. Help them to see that You offer a hand of love and not of damnation. You are the way, the truth and the light. Through you, all things are possible. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray these things. Amen.
